Our final stop before disembarkation was the city of Kampong Cham. We were to be docked here overnight. Coincidentally, it was New Year’s Eve, so we got to enjoy the fireworks and festivities along the riverbank.
We arrived in the afternoon and went for a walk through the local market and along the riverbank.

One of the more “unique” stalls was one where you could buy money. Really. The locals bring old, beat-up bills and exchange them for new ones. Why American $2? Because they have lucky numbers on them! Our guide claimed one could sell them for thousands of dollars if they had just the right combination of numbers.

As we walked along the waterfront, one group of local people invited us to join them for dinner. Everyone seemed to be in a festive mood.

The following morning, it was time to disembark for our final time. The Victoria Mekong is a lovely boat but we were looking forward to being on dry land again. We had a 6-hour drive to reach Siem Reap. We stopped for lunch (absolutely horrendous meal), and had one final restroom break before reaching town. We passed this crazy fool taking a nap on a hammock while the crane was driven down the highway.

The restroom break was next to a historic bridge.

We passed quite a few of these hay wagons:

We finally got to Siem Reap, checked into our beautiful hotel (Sokha Angkor Resort), and headed to Pub Street to chill.
