2019 China, Trans-Siberian Railway and Baltic Cruise: This was one crazy trip! We dabbled in taking group tours, for the first (and possibly last) time. Read about it in the May and June 2019 Archives.
2020 Chiang Mai, cruises from Rome to Dubai and from Dubai to Cape Town. We absolutely loved spending a month in Chiang Mai. From there, things went a bit downhill (mainly due to COVID). Read about it in the January through March 2020 archives.
December 2021/January 2022: We rented an apartment in Chiang Mai. Entering Thailand in the midst of Covid was a challenge. But we loved it there!
November 2022 through May 2023: We lived in Chiang Mai and also explored a bit more of Thailand. Read about it in the November 2022 and beyond archives.
September 2023 through April 2024: We returned to our home in Chiang Mai. In October, we did a tour of Vietnam and in December, we took a cruise from Kuala Lumpur back to Bangkok. We returned to the US for a brief visit during April and May.
We are now back in Chiang Mai; our first stay during rainy season. June and July were very hot and basically dry, but the rains have now started. We don’t mind at all – the rain moderates the temperature and makes things nice and green. In August, we toured South Africa in August. It was an amazing trip.
In December, we did a Gate 1 tour that started in Saigon and ended in Cambodia. As part of the trip, we floated down the Mekong River on a river cruise on the Mekong Princess.
We returned to the US in March and headed back to Chiang Mai in July. In September, we toured Jordan and Egypt on another Gate 1 tour. We will head “down under” in December on a cruise that starts in Singapore and ends in Sydney. We head back to the US in March; in April, I am visiting my daughter and grandchildren in Maryland (yeah!). An Alaska cruise is scheduled for May, then another Gate 1 tour in September (13-day Danube River cruise from Budapest to Bucharest) and finally, a tour of India in November.
