I love to read and many of the books that I have read are set in England and Scotland. I have imagined what the locations I have read about looked like. Since our cruise was ending in Southampton it seemed an excellent opportunity to see if my imagination matched up to reality!
We had too much sense to try driving on the “left” so purchased BritRail passes instead. This was such a good decision. Most rental cars there are standard transmission and the thought of shifting on the left, driving on the left, and negotiating the never-ending traffic circles going the “wrong” way was too stressful! We loved taking the train and will be planning a future trip around Europe using Eurail.
